Somatic & Relational

Therapy Group

online from feb. 4 - apr. 22, 2024 (12 weeks total)

limited to 8 participants; first come, first served

no prerequisites required; application deadline extended to january 13

Building community is essential in co-creating the world we want to live in, and it takes practice to grow our capacity to relate authentically. This group is designed to support relational awareness and skill-building for queer/trans adults of the Asian diaspora.

Together we’ll study the shape(s) we each take within a group body and play at the edges of our relational comfort zones. Through somatic practice and group process, we’ll gain deeper insight into the masks we wear and the parts of us that have been conditioned to hide.

Our goal is not to achieve a permanent state of unmaskedness, but rather to slow down, notice, and experiment with taking small risks for the sake of working through the barriers that typically keep us from genuine engagement and connection. We will unpack moments of tension or misunderstanding and practice direct communication, with the intention of paving the way for more intimacy in our lives.

this group is foR:

Queer/trans adults of the Asian diaspora who want to join an affinity community space in which to practice stretching beyond the confines of who we think we have to be in order to belong.

Note that the term “Asian” means different things to different people, and there is no one monolithic Asian identity. It is a term that has historically been used to racialize, categorize, and politically designate peoples. If you identify as being part of the Asian diaspora, you are welcome to this group.

about the facilitator, infinity ku (they/them):

I’m a queer and gender-free somatic psychotherapist of Chinese descent living on the unceded land of the Chochenyo-speaking Ohlone people, aka the East Bay, CA. As a therapist and facilitator, I love working with folks seeking to deepen their relationships with self/other/earth/cosmos and who are on a journey of unlearning internalized oppression.

My approach to group therapeutic work is informed by somatic methodologies of awareness and change, expressive arts, decolonial feminism, and a personal commitment to an embodied practice of liberatory authenticity. Learn more about me here.

After your completed form is submitted, I will reach out to schedule a one-on-one, 20-minute consultation call so that we can mutually assess fit.
